Bills Signed by the Governor
Governor Ron DeSantis signed his first bill as Florida’s 46th governor on March 18th. Senate Bill 182 by Senator Jeff Brandes (R-St. Petersburg) and Representative Ray Rodrigues (R-Fort Myers) eliminated the ban on smokable medical marijuana, among other items. The Governor threatened to drop Florida’s appeal of a court decision related to the 2016 voter-approved constitutional amendment that initially legalized medical marijuana if the Legislature did not pass a bill addressing the smoking ban. To date, the Governor has signed seven other bills from the Legislature into law.
