EXECUTION The Florida Supreme Court has denied death row inmate Louis Gaskin’s appeal to block his execution. Gaskin was condemned to die for the 1989 murders of a couple in Flagler County. His execution was carried out April 12th.
HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION The Florida Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the Sarasota Property Appraiser regarding a homestead exemption. An owner had filed for the exemption, but it was discovered that 15 percent of the property did not qualify for the exemption due to a renter sharing the home. The court determined the property owner should have his exemption reduced by the 15 percent.
